They come in by the thousands each year: Pets who have clearly been someone’s companion; Dogs with obedience training; Cats who are well fed and well taken care of; Animals with collars, but no tags, and no microchips. If only we knew who they belonged to, we could get them back home!
Licensing your pet is one of the best ways to ensure that if he strays or she gets lost, they come back home to you. It is also the law in most metro area communities. Below is a quick reference guide of cities in the metro and what they require.
You may license in person at the Nebraska Humane Society, by mail, at area veterinarians, or online from the comfort of your own home! (Licensing in person at NHS avoids a processing fee. Licensing by mail, through your veterinarian or online will add a $5 processing fee.) To learn more about licensing your pet, click on your area of residence. The online option appears at the bottom of the page. Allow 4 -6 weeks for delivery of your pet tags. Visa and MasterCard are accepted for online or in person transactions.
*License fees are a non refundable city fee. In the event that your pet is deceased, you may be able to transfer the license to a new pet. Please click on your jurisdiction for more information.
